Mountain Home B&B

Not a good night last night, although the larger bed and quieter room was an improvement from the previous night. The pain in my left leg kept getting worse throughout the night, and I decided to zero here today, since hiking was not possible.

Scott and Lisa have been great, ferrying me to and from CVS to get compression socks and some food for the day. I’ve spent the day with my leg elevated, playing my uke and catching up on some news.

I also had a couple of long talks with Scott about his thru-hikes and some of what it took to get the B&B up and running. They’re an interesting couple, make no mistake!

And this evening‘s dinner? The last of the leftover pizza!!! Do I know how to enjoy life or what?

The leg is better this evening, but I’ve requested one more zero day to increase the odds that I can continue. Although zeroing may sound comfortable, it gets old fast.

When I mentioned drama yesterday, I didn’t think that this was going to be the fall out… but I knew if I pushed early, there was a good chance of developing a physical issue. <sigh>

As it stands now, if all goes well, I’ll be hiking up into the SNP in the rain on Friday.

I’m loving hearing about this trip, and I’m sure, even with all your prep, the demand on the body is very real. I hope your pain subsides, and you can get back at it!

  2. Hoping for a positive outcome to your leg pain to allow you to get back out on the trail. I’m sure it is very disappointing for you.
Please make sure to take care of yourself! Thinking of you and sending love and hugs! ❤️❤️
